Welcome

Thanks for visiting my site. I'm Marquita Rand, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, and am both president of and instructor for AMC. Most people like to know something about their instructors, so I'll share some information here. I am:

• A licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) with eighteen years of experience;
• A reading specialist; and
• A certified Teacher of English as a Foreign Language.

I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Science from The Ohio State University, and my M.Ed. in Reading Education from Towson University. I'm certified to provide accent modification training using the Compton P-ESL program.

I have:

• Worked with children and adults in hospital, educational, home, and workplace settings;
• Supervised graduate students in speech-language pathology;
• Managed inpatient and acute rehabilitation programs; and
• Taught Voice and Diction at the undergraduate level.

I'm now a full-time consultant in the area of federal disability policy, and maintain AMC as an independent, part-time private practice.

Affiliations

I'm certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and licensed by the Maryland State Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers and Speech-Language Pathologists. I also belong to Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. (TESOL), a global education association.
